FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is dog daycare?

Dog daycare allows you to drop off your dog for a day (full or half) of play and stimulation with other dogs of similar size and temperament. They are given attention and supervision by our trained staff, in a clean and safe environment. You can check-in throughout the day through our live web cam, and when your dog is ready for pick-up, you’ll get a comprehensive report card on their day and enjoy a comfortable evening with a calm and satisfied dog at home.

What is dog boarding?

Dog boarding is a safe and secure home for your dog while you’re away. Petz Prefurred offers a range of boarding options including apartments and luxury suites with dedicated outdoor runs and semi-private play areas. Trained and attentive staff provide regular check-ins, play time and even night-time cuddles to ensure that your dog is well cared for and loved while you’re away.

How do I know if my dog is a good candidate for daycare?

Most dogs we meet are good candidates, but some may need more care and individual attention. In either case, we perform a Playgroup Compatibility Evaluation to ensure the safety of your dog and others. This first meet-and-greet involves a careful assessment with a full day of play and guided introductions to both the facility and well-socialized dogs of similar size and temperament.

What is required before I bring my dog in for daycare?

Your dog’s safety and care are our first priority. In order to establish their care requirements, we start with gathering basic information on your dog including breed, temperament and vaccination records. Most of this will be done when you create their pack member profile. After that, we’ll schedule a time for a meet-and-greet to give you a tour and assess their play group compatibility with other dogs.

Does my dog need vaccinations in order to attend daycare?

Yes. In order to ensure the safety of your dog and their playmates, you must provide up-to-date vaccination records for Rabies, DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus), and Bordetella. Puppies (as young as 8 weeks old) are allowed once they’ve had at least 2 series of puppy shots and Bordetella. We accept records that a veterinarian gives; it does not have to be given specifically at a vet’s office, but records have to be signed by a vet.

What are your hours?

We’re open Monday – Friday, 7am – 7pm; Saturday and Sunday, 9am – 6pm. We are closed for pick-ups and drop-offs on New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day, but still take care of boarding dogs with limited playtime and feeding schedules.

How do I make a reservation for dog daycare, boarding or grooming?

Once your pack member profile and Playgroup Compatibility Evaluation (meet and greet) are complete, you can schedule dog daycare, boarding or grooming services through our pack member portal, call us at (616)799-9000 or stop in at 14175 Edgerton Ave NE | Cedar Springs, MI 49319.
